A “Green” Economical Breastpump?

Ok, THIS is really interesting. A new line of breast pumps by Hygeia sell for the same price (or less) than single-user pumps, are hospital-grade, and allow multiple users.

So, for example, three moms working at the same location could pool their funds and purchase a single Hygeia pump and each would purchase their own “kit” (flanges, etc.). Or a mom could purchase and use this pump, then resell it safely. Or even donate it to a homeless shelter for another mom to use.  The EnJoye sells for $219 (without the rechargeable battery and carrying case), and can be found at: HygeiaBaby.com

I’d be fascinated to know how this pump stacks up compared to the Medela Pump-in-Style or the Ameda pumps!

This sounds like a good pump and system! I heard about it while looking at some Babies R Us products (they carry the bottles and it said it’s for breast milk specifically so I had to look into it!). I hope to see some reviews soon too, I’d probably choose this over medela now that there’s some controversy surrounding them :-/

I’d be interested to see how it stacks up next to the Medela Symphony.

My company provides a Symphony (and a nurse’s room) for pumping moms to use. I’ve found it to be much quieter, more comfortable, and possibly more effective than the PIS Original hand-me-down I have at home that I was planning to use at work.

Maybe more companies would provide good multi-user pumps if they were cheaper!
